Translating Knowledge into Business

Gudie Leisure Farm is a social enterprise that transforms African agribusiness by empowering its vast human resource with the competences required to start and build strong and sustainable agro-based enterprises.

Our Goals

To create a profitable and sustainable agribusiness company by 2030.

To build sustainable Parish Entrepreneurship Learning Associations (PELAs) across Uganda by 2030.

To create and develop organized agribusiness markets for our eco-system’s value chain products by 2030.

Empowering Youth

We transform African agribusiness by empowering the youth with the competences required to start and build strong and sustainable agro-based enterprises.

We mobilize, organize and build the capacity of youth-owned MSEs that operate at the different nodes of the white meat, cereals, oilseeds, tubers, pulses and horticultural value chains to profitably and competitively produce and deliver high quality products and services to the marketplace as competent inter-linked supply chain partners.
“The sustainable growth and prosperity of our country and continent requires committed investment in the development of strong collaborations between and amongst the different actors in its agricultural value chains.”

The Gudie Leisure Farm Cottage Industry Conferences

Empowering Cottage Enterprises: 2024, The Year of the Cottage Industry Conferences

Cottage Industry Conferences, aimed at promoting sustainable investment in the white meat industry of Uganda and the value chains that influence its operations. These conferences are part of our core development interventions, focusing on fostering productive collaborations among Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) for greater efficiency and effectiveness in their operations.

At the heart of this initiative is the organization of young owners and managers into five major business groups, including the Animal Industry, Feed Mill Industry, Nutraceuticals Industry, Bistro Franchise Industry, and Service Industry. Through these groupings, we aim to facilitate in-depth discussions among stakeholders about market dynamics, both locally and internationally, and the competencies needed to navigate an increasingly unstable business environment.

The Cottage Industry Platforms, as we call these engagements, serve as a vital opportunity to enhance collaborations among MSEs for higher levels of growth and sustainability. By providing training, coaching, and mentorship in technical and business skills, we empower participants to enhance the efficiency of their operations and seize existing and emerging business development opportunities.

Our objectives for these platforms are clear:

  • Spotlighting Youth Agripreneur Champions leading socio-economic transformation through cottage industry initiatives.
  • Exposing MSEs to business development opportunities in the marketplace.
  • Equipping MSEs with the necessary technical and business skills for success.
  • Establishing platforms for MSEs to build collaborations with stakeholders supporting their growth and sustainability.

Throughout the year, we will host monthly Cottage Industry Conferences at Gudie Leisure Farm, each focusing on a specific industry, including cereals, pulses, tubers, poultry, aquaculture, piggery, horticulture, nutraceuticals, proteinsect, water weeds, and multivitamins. These conferences will provide a forum for knowledge exchange, networking, and strategic planning to drive the sustainable advancement of cottage enterprises in Uganda.

Join us in our mission to empower and uplift cottage enterprises, driving positive change in communities across Uganda. Together, we can unlock the full potential of the white meat industry and its related value chains for the benefit of all.
