The Teso Region Spotlight is a private sector-led initiative aimed at enlightening local and foreign investors about the investment opportunities that exist in this part of the country, generating support for young entrepreneurs that are already investing in it, and celebrating its rich cultural heritage! It will feature 2 major events; – the Teso Cultural Immersion & Talent Show taking place on Sunday 6th August, 2023 and the Teso Region Business Symposium and Dinner that will take place on Monday 7th August, 2023.
“It is pertinent that the private sector proactively works with the government and local leaders to open the eyes of not just foreigners but also all nationals – potential local investors – to the vast opportunities that lie in different parts of Uganda such as the Teso region,” Prof. Gudula Naiga Basaza, Founder and Managing Director of Gudie Leisure Farm said. “Teso is blessed with resources and a very determined and energetic young population which, with strategic guidance, partnerships and support, can drive socio-economic development in the region and country. As the private sector, we need an increase in the flow of investments in the region to thrive as well, hence our decision to promote it.”

Mr. John Kokas, Gudie Leisure Farm’s Teso region coordinator said that the region hosts several business opportunities in trade, agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and services worth exploiting with strategic trade routes to East Africa. He added, “Far more than politics, good business and investments can help our region’s youth realize their aspirations and fulfill their potential. Several youth in the region are starting to realize and appreciate that fact and are determined to evangelize the idea of entrepreneurship and active investment. We want sustainable change: strategic investments and business partnerships can achieve that for us.”
Explaining the choice of venue for the event, Prof. Basaza said, “We have been every deliberate in our choice of venue for these events – Kampala Metropolitan – the home of the Capital and main trade hub of the country, hosting the largest number of potential investors, private sector actors, public institutions as well as business and cultural tourists who need information on opportunities in other parts of Uganda. Teso will be introducing some of its opportunities to them and will in turn host these actors in the region at a later date which will be communicated.”
Also present at the press conference was Akiror Grace, the Minister for Culture (Iteso Cultural Union). She welcomed the public to come and witness the different activities that the youth of Teso are doing.
The Teso region hosts nine districts which include; – Amuria, Bukedea, Kaberamaido Kapelebyong, Katakwi, Kumi, Ngora, Serere and Soroti.
